The Route builder enables you to create or edit new routes. First, it is important to note that only order with “free” status — no courier assigned — can be edit, meaning that if you were to edit a route that is already assigned you will have to set it “free” before manipulating the route.
How does it work?
The route builder allows you to create/edit multiple routes simultaneously. The layout is divided into:
Route slots: where you can create as many slots for your routes as you want.
Contextual toolbar: a dynamic toolbar that changes according to 3 different context when editing a route.
Map: the not only plots all available orders but also draws the current route you are creating/editing. Markers are coloured by pick-up location.
Create a new route slot
If you are editing a route or that is your first route, the slot is created automatically (you can skip to the next step).
You start by click/tapping on «CREATE A NEW ROUTE SLOT» button, located at the bottom left of the contextual toolbar — you can create as many route slots you want.
Adding orders to a route
You have three ways of adding orders to a route:
Clicking/tapping on a marker on the map gives you the details for that order. It also changes the contextual toolbar content, which now should show a button «ADD SELECTED ORDERS TO SLOT». You can select multiple markers by holding SHIFT + LEFT MOUSE BUTTON and dragging the cursor to the markers you want to select — in the same way as selecting all icons on your desktop, for example.
Clicking/tapping on «ADD ORDERS» (item 1.4) will open a popover with a list of orders, you can now add an order by clicking/tapping «ADD THIS ORDER TO ROUTE».
Similarly to the previous way, you can load all orders from an existing route. Just hit the «LOAD A ROUTE» button (item 1.4) and select the route you want to add the orders from.
In all cases, your first order will narrow down all remaining orders that are on the same window — you can only add orders within the same delivery window.
Manipulating a route slot
If you have more than one route slot, you can manipulate them.
Merge route slots:
For example, merging two slots into one. As long as they are within the same delivery window you can merge route slots. To do so, just select the routes — by checking the checkbox «SELECT THIS SLOT» on the top left corner (item 1.2) — notice that when selecting a slot the contextual bar changes too, you can click/tap «MERGE SELECTED SLOTS» button, at the bottom left corner.
Move an order across route slots:
You can also move orders across route slots «Move order…»
Building options
When creating a route, you can set two options:
«Group same addresses as one stop» This will make orders with that happens in the same address to be treated as one stop. It is turned on by default.
«Let Zoopit find the best sequence» When this options is marked Zoopit system may change the order of pick-ups and deliveries to find the fastest/shortest sequence of pick-ups and deliveries. This means that there is a potential that the sequence you have created for your route will be changed.
Saving a route
Once you are done creating/editing your route, you need to hit «SAVE ROUTE» button at the bottom right corner of the contextual bar and that is it. Your new route will be saved.
Saving multiple routes:
Select all route slots by switching between the tabs (item 1.1) and selecting each slot you want to be saved. You'll see that the contextual bar now shows you the option «SAVE SELECTED ROUTES» button, just click/tap on the button and wait for the routes to be saved.
NOTE: if the same order is found on different slots, the saving will not proceed.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE:
If the route you create contains orders that were in an existent route and you do not route all orders, the system will generate an extra route with the remaining orders that you left out of the route you just created. For example:
Let's say you have decide to edit route ABCD that contains orders ORDER1, ORDER2, ORDER3 and ORDER4. You create a new route using ORDER1, ORDER2 and ORDER3, hit save and your new route is created. The problem now is that ORDER4 has no route anymore. So the system will see that and “think” ORDER4 needs to be routed. So it will create a route for ORDER4. So, be aware of issues like these when creating/manipulating routes. All orders have to be routed or the system will automatically create a route for “un-routed” orders.
